14 burnt to death as van catches fire due CNG cylinder explosion in Karak

KARAK: At least 14 people including women and children were burnt to death and seven others scorched as CNG cylinder of van carrying wedding party blasted after collision with a vehicle here on Sunday.

According to details, a Dera Ismail Khan bound van coming from Peshawar carrying participants of wedding party collided with another vehicle at Indus Highway in Karak after which the CNG cylinder of the van exploded and it caught fire.

As a result of fire 14 people including four women and two children were burnt to death while seven others were scorched.

The scorched people were shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital where condition some people was stated to be serious and it was feared that death toll could rise further.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and other leaders of the provincial government have expressed profound grief over loss of precious lives in the deadly accident. The CM has sought the report from authorities concerned besides directing providing best treatment facilities to the scorched people.

Meanwhile, the police after registering a case into the incident have started the investigation.
